"We are committed to improving the lives of our listeners and their families by providing information, entertainment and friendship through our local talking newspaper service."

For over 50 years, the Macclesfield and District Talking Newspaper has produced a weekly recording of local news for visually impaired people who live in Macclesfield and the surrounding area.

Operating from a recording studio at 11 Market Place, Macclesfield, each week the team of volunteers produces a summary of the week’s local news stories taken from the Macclesfield Express and other sources, and a general interest magazine, ‘DID YOU KNOW?’. These are recorded onto memory sticks, along with a number of curated articles from the RNIB magazine library. Listeners can look forward to around two and a half hours listening each week.

The Macclesfield Talking Newspaper is sent out by post to our listeners
who then return the memory sticks to us ready for the next issue.
The service is entirely free to its users.
